Ideas are the mechanism to get us from the abstract to the reality.  Life is
energized by ideas, and we move one idea at a time.  On this page I am
pleased to share with you some of my thoughts, ideas, insights, etc, in
hopes that they will in turn stimulate your thinking enhancing your personal
discovery process.  Please check back from time to time to see what
thoughts are festering in my head.
Reach for the GREAT PART. .. ...

I believe there is in all of us a "great part" and a "lesser part".  I believe  there is within
us a capacity for greatness, and the potential to be far less than we are capable of
being.  I like to call the great part - SOUL, and the lesser part - EGO.

When we work from the soul, that is from that deep, inner core of our being, we will
discover within us the great qualities of our character and the creative powers of our
"personhood" that will make us all we can be.   On the other hand, when our egos get
calling the shots, as they often do, we lose that potential for greatness and find
ourselves functioning on a level far less than our true self is capable of.

I believe this is true not only for the individual, but for groups.  When a group
discovers and integrates those great soul qualities into their corporate experience,
an energy is created and the potential for greatness is manifested.

Think about it.  When people are inspired, energized, and discover a vision, amazing
things result.  When people connect to that which they know deep within themselves
is of real and lasting value, they come alive.  The great truth and most amazing reality
is that everyone has within them that greatness, that gold waiting to be discovered.  It
is for all of us our most significant human endeavour, to REACH FOR THE GREAT
PART!!
A Field Mouse or An Osprey . .. ...

A few months back while sitting in a boat  fishing with a couple of friends, I noticed a
field mouse on the river bank.  He emerged out of his hole, darted in a couple of
directions, and then scurried back.  I thought of the existence of this little creature.  His
life is spent running around, frightened and frantic, following his nose.  He darts here,
scurries there, turns in circles, but never really sees much beyond his nose.  He is
trying to sniff his way to successful living, which defined, by a mouse's existence, is
finding some daily morsel to consume, to sustain him, so that he can carry on for the
rest of his life, frightened and frantic.  Sound familiar.

A few minutes later I glanced up and noticed soaring high above was an Osprey.
Rather than a picture of a frightened and frantic existence, I saw a wide winged
creature using the air currents to maneuver majestically in the illimitable heights.
Rather than sniffing out a meagre existence, this keen eyed hunter with a panoramic
view of the river and lake beneath, was simply waiting for the appropriate time to
swoop and capture his prey.  The amazing creature, rather than return to some tiny
hole in the river bank, glides toward a nest fashioned at the top of the tallest of trees.
The strength in his wings, the power in his talons, the amazing capacity of his vision,
the effortless capacity to soar,  .... It is the osprey, not the field mouse that models our
human potential.

I don't know about you, but it is easy for me to decide which creature I want to exemplify
my life.  I want to soar.  I want to explore.  I want to see the big picture.  I want to
conquer.  I want to climb higher, go farther, dive deeper, and experience more.  I want
my soul enlarged, my mind expanded, my heart enlivened and my spirit energized.  I
want the scurrying to stop.  I want the frantic darting about following my nose, to end.  I
want new strength, fresh thinking, clear vision and resolved courage.  I want to be
more and more like the osprey and less like the field mouse, for to live like this field
mouse is to insult my creator and deny my true destiny.
Confronting the COMFORT ZONE . .. ...

In his third book Conversations with God, Neal Donald Walsch wrote - "Life begins at
the end of your comfort zone."
I think he is right don't you.  At least it has been my
experience.

Erica Jong wrote -
"Everyone has a talent.  What is rare is the courage to follow the
talent to the dark place where it leads"
.  We really do not discover who we are or
what we are made of, until we pass through the fringe of our experience and enter that
place where comfort and convenience are left behind and discovery and risk take over.
It is the place where life really gets interesting and fully rewarding, but for most of us,
we opt for that place of comfort and status quo.   We can read an idea, hear a
challenge, think a possibility, and just not respond.  We may move close, take a look,
make a wish or even dare to dream, and then something happens inside, and we
shrink back to a previous, safer place.

The safe place, although more comfortable and controllable, is not the place where
discovery happens and change takes place.  It is a place of sameness and status
quo.  A place where mediocrity dwells. In this place we cut off the awareness of our
inner urges and succumb to the tyranny of the ordinary.  It is a crowded place.

It is a place inhabited by quitters - those who never catch the vision; and campers -
those who once saw the vision but at some point along the way they settled.  There is
however within all of us the spirit of the climber, wanting to emerge, wanting to take
that risk which leads up the mountain and on to new vistas.  The trek begins when we
have the courage to CONFRONT our COMFORT ZONE!
